Despite years of false starts for television adaptations, Y: The Last Man, revealed the first look at its FX on Hulu television series adaptation.
Vertigo’s Y: The Last Man, has finally revealed its first look at its television adaption after a handful of false-starts, debuting a quick view of new footage from FX on Hulu.
The short section of the spot focused primarily on “bombs dropping, a plane crash, people collapsing, Yorick’s mother and congresswoman Jennifer Brown (Diane Lane) running, and Yorick’s sister Hero Brown (Olivia Thirlby)” being unsure how to handle the situation.
Prior to this ad spot for FX on Hulu, it was previously reported that the Y: The Last Man television adaptation will steer its plot close to its comic origins.
Y: The Last Man will be a direct adaptation of the comic series from Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra that ran from 2002 to 2008. It takes place in a world where a cataclysmic event has killed every male mammal on the planet except for a human (Yorick Brown) and his faithful companion capuchin monkey (Ampersand). As Yorick undergoes a dangerous odyssey to find out why he’s the lone survivor, the remaining women of Earth try to figure out how to rebuild society following the death of half its population.
Since 2015, Y:The Last Man has been in development as a television series. However, a pilot for the series wasn’t ordered until April 2018, with Keoghan joining the cast a few months later. The series picked up steam in early 2019 with a straight-to-series order. FX also released a photo from the series around that time. Previously, the Y: The Last Man comic series was set to be a film.
