WCVB Channel 5 and Home Base Partner Again to Raise Awareness and Funds to Help Heal the Invisible Wounds ofWar
BOSTON, MA – Tuesday, November 8, 2022 – WCVB Channel 5, Boston’s news and community leader, will partner with Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program, on the fourth annual day-long televent “Helping Veterans Heal” on Thursday, November 10 in honor of Veterans’ Day.The televent will begin at 6AM during the EyeOpener newscast and will run through 8PM, with periodic live reports throughout the day’s regularly scheduled newscasts and programming. Hear from Military Families about the life-changing care and support they receive at Home Base and learn more about the invisible wounds affecting our nation’s Veterans, Service Members and their Families. NewsCenter 5’s special coverage will explore food insecurity, PTSD, and suicide rates among Veterans, and the innovative programs Home Base offers, including an equine experience, that help provide much needed intervention and support. Live interviews throughout the day will include Brigadier General (ret.) Jack Hammond, Executive Director for the Home Base Program; Sam Kennedy, President and CEO of the Boston Red Sox; and Dr. David Brown, president of Massachusetts General Hospital.
