HOMES. WE SHOW YOU HOW IT WORKS. >> VETERANS CAN CLAIM ONE OF ALMOST 500 DOCTORS MEANT TO HELP THEM FIND A PLACE TO LIVE. >> IT STANDS FOR HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT. VETERANS SUPPORTIVE HOUSING. IT IS A PROGRAM HERE AT THE V.A. IN WHICH WE PROVIDE AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOW INCOME VETERANS. KOLBY: THE LAST DECADE, THE V.A. HAS BEEN WORKING TO FIND LANDLORDS TO FIND A PLACE FOR VETERANS TO LIVE BUT IT IS TOUGHER THAN EVER NOW. >> WITH THE HOUSING MARKET NOW, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR US TO FIND GOOD, QUALITY, AFFORDABLE HOUSES FOR VETERANS. KOLBY: THEY ARE APPEALING TO LANDLORDS, WILLING TO HELP SOLVE THE CRISIS. >> WE ARE EAGER TO FIND LANDLORDS WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT HELPING OUR VETERANS. KOLBY: THE V.A. SAYS IT IS BENEFICIAL FOR THOSE LANDLORDS. >> WE ENSURE THE VETERAN IS SUPPORTED THROUGH TIMELY RENTAL PAYMENT, SO WE ARE COMMUNICATING WITH THE LANDLORD, TALKING TO THEM, SAYING, HOW IS THE RELATIONSHIP GOING? WE PROVIDE THAT MIDDLEMAN ESSENTIALLY BETWEEN THE LANDLORD AND THE VETERAN. KOLBY: SOME LANDLORDS HAVE BEEN A PART OF THE PROGRAM FOR YEARS, BUT THE V.A. HOPES THEY CAN USE THIS EVENT TO FIND NEW ONES THAT HELP OR HOMELESS VETERANS. >> COVID HAS PREVENTED A LOT OF OUTREACH AND WONDERFUL EVENTS LIKE THIS, SO THIS IS OUR FIRST ONE. KOLBY: THE V.A.
