Despite his recent performances, Alessio Romagnoli’s spot in the starting eleven seemed safe as multiple outlets reported that he would start against Roma tomorrow. However, that isn’t the case at all.
The captain has been heavily criticised for his performances in the last few weeks and after the mistake on Thursday, against Red Star Belgrade, Stefano Pioli has made up his mind: Fikayo Tomori will play instead.
According to Peppe Di Stefano of Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, the Chelsea loanee will start alongside Simon Kjaer in the heart of the defence tomorrow. Something that Milan fans will appreciate, given the Englishman’s impressive start.
It’s about time, some will say, as Romagnoli hasn’t lived up to expectations at all. At the same time, it was getting harder and harder to keep Tomori on the bench. Gigio Donnarumma will be the captain tomorrow.
