On August 18, the Turkish occupation state targeted a girls educational center in Shemoka village on the Hassakeh-Tel Tamir road with an armed UAV. This center is located only 2 km`s away from the base of the International Coalition and is sponsored by the United Nations.

Muhammed Amin Naimi, member of the Al-Jazeera Region`s Lawyer`s Union spoke to our agency regarding the attack and said: “Turkey has recently been carrying out new plans, and entered a new phase 4 months ago.”
The lawyer, Muhammed Amin Neimi, drew attention to the international silence towards the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation state against the region and stated that the international community is serving their (Turkey`s) interests by remaining silent and continued: “By now, everyone knows what Turkey is doing, but still, in order to protect their interests and increase their influence in the region, they are making concessions towards Turkey. According to the United Nation`s human rights system, these crimes committed by the Turkish occupation state are not acceptable.”
Regarding the targeting of the girls educational center in Shemoka village in Hassakeh, Naimi made the following evaluation: “Despite the education center in Shemoka village being under UN supervision and the fact that it is situated close to the base of the International Coalition, they have still not displayed any response or attitude.”
Naimi criticized the position of the guarantor states from the ceisefire agreement and said: “We know that the guarantor states have not publicly given any approval to Turkey for carrying out attacks against the regions of North and East Syria, but on the other hand, they have given them persmission to use UAV`s against the above mentioned regions.”
Namimi pointed out that if attacks have been carried out and the peace and stability is threatened, the 7th chapter of the UN charter must be implemented.
According to paragraphs 39 until 51 of the 7th chapter of the Security Council`s charter, if a threat or attack against the peace of a region is made, sanctions in accordance with paragraph 41 and 42 are implemented in order to protect the international peace and security. Additionaly for special measures to be taken in order for a plan to be set to prevent a crisis where weapons are being used.
Naimi called for the closure of the airspace of North and East Syria as a measure against the attacks by the Turkish occupation state in order to protect the seucurity and citizens of the region.
Regarding the attacks by the Turkish occupation state, the citizens of the above-mentioned regions have since April 25, 2017, been calling for the closure of the airspace over the regions in North and East Syria.
On June 28th of this year, 30 politcal parties in the region issued a joint statement calling on the UN, EU, USA and Russia to prevent attacks against the region. Following this, Arab political figures came with their support for the call.
