Anil Baijal meets Delhi LG-designate Vinai Kumar Saxena
Delhi’s outgoing Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday met LG-designate Vinai Kumar Saxena and shared his experience of governing the city. Saxena will take the oath of office at the Raj Niwas here on Thursday. “It was indeed a pleasure meeting the Lt Governor designate Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena and Smt Sangita Saxena at Raj Niwas today. We had an enriching discussion sharing my experiences and his vision of Delhi (sic),” Baijal said in a tweet.
Kerala CM warns forces trying to create communal tension of stringent action
Amid rising incidents of hate speeches and sloganeering in Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday made it clear that there would be no compromise with communal forces and warned of strong action against the elements trying to create division in society. Referring to the circumstances that led to the police action against senior Kerala politician P C George for alleged hate speeches and Popular Front of India (PFI) activists who chanted hate slogans allegedly in a rally held in Alappuzha, Vijayan, while addressing a bypoll rally here, said those who engage in such activities should keep in mind the fact that the State is ruled by the LDF government and that its policy is zero tolerance towards all forms of communalism.
Sundaram Finance reports 43% rise in Q4 net profit
Non-banking finance company Sundaram Finance Ltd has reported a 43 per cent jump in its net profit for the quarter ending March 31, 2022 at Rs 299 crore, the company said on Wednesday. The city-based company registered a net profit at Rs 209 crore during the corresponding quarter previous year. For the year ending March 31, 2022, the net profit grew by 11.6 per cent to Rs 903 crore as against Rs 809 crore registered a year ago, a company statement said here.
Telangana clocks 49 new COVID-19 cases
Telangana on Wednesday recorded 49 fresh coronavirus cases taking the aggregate to 7,92,997. Hyderabad reported the highest number of cases with 34. A health department bulletin said 28 people recuperated from the infection and the cumulative number of recoveries till date was 7,88,488. The recovery rate stood at 99.43 per cent.
Gujarat govt exempts LPG distributers from acquiring permit
The Gujarat government on Wednesday announced that dealers engaged in the distribution of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders are now exempted from acquiring permits to operate their business. Speaking to reporters, state Minister and government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani said the decision was taken by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during a cabinet meeting.
3 Pakistani JeM terrorists killed in Baramulla encounter
Three Pakistani militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit were on Wednesday killed in a “chance” encounter with security forces in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. A cop also lost his life in the encounter which took place at Najibhat crossing in Kreeri area in the north Kashmir district. Inspector General of Police, Vijay Kumar, said the encounter took place at one of the ‘nakas’ (checkpoints) laid by the security forces across the valley.

School massacre continues Texas’ grim run of mass shootings
