Sacramento police said a person is being held hostage by someone who may have fired a gun in south Sacramento. No injuries have been reported at this time.There is at least one person the Sacramento Police Department said is armed inside a home near 58th Street and Fruitridge Road. Crisis negotiators have made contact with the person inside. Officers were using a loudspeaker to order residents to open the front door “with nothing in your hands.” Police said this started just before 10 a.m. Over 12 hours later, at 10:33 p.m., a KCRA 3 photojournalist spotted police using heavy machinery take down a nearby fence.At least two SWAT vehicles are on the scene, KCRA 3’s Maricela De La Cruz reported. An area of the street was blocked off between 27th Avenue and Fruitridge.Police have dropped off cigarettes and a cellphone to stay in touch with the person, De La Cruz reported.The police activity is happening near West Campus High School and other schools in the south Sacramento neighborhood. West Campus, as well as Mark Twain and Peter Burnett elementary schools, were put on lockdown out of an abundance of caution, the Sacramento City Unified School District said.
