Green Day will premiere their new song, “Here Comes the Shock,” for the first time at the Feb. 20 game within a highlight reel of the top plays of the first quarter of the 2020-21 NHL season.
“LOUD season has returned. We’re stoked ‘Here Comes The Shock’ will soundtrack the NHL’s return to the outdoors!” Green Day said in a statement.
“Shock” will be available on all major streaming services on Feb. 21. As part of a two-year-deal with the NHL, Green Day’s music will be featured through the remainder of the 2021 season.
At press time, a spokesperson for the band had not returned a request for additional information on the fresh track.
Green Day released their 13th studio album, Father of All… in February 2020 and while they wait for their delayed Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer to kick off on June 9, they’ve kept busy with some other sports appearances, including rocking the stage during the 10th annual NFL Honors earlier this month before Super Bowl LV.
