Carolina Hurricanes goalie Frederik Andersen, who has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since April 16, was in net Monday for the club’s full-team practice for the first time since the injury. Carolina is up 2-1 over the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference semifinals with Game 4 set for Tuesday.
Andersen left the practice 20 minutes in. It appeared to be a planned early exit and he walked off the ice without a limp.
The 32-year-old Andersen started 51 games for the Hurricanes during the regular season, logging a 2.17 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage along with four shutouts.
Antti Raanta has stepped up for the Hurricanes in the cage throughout the playoff run. The 33-year-old has a 1.86 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage across nine starts. He started 26 regular-season games, putting up a 2.45 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.
