Liz Cheney says she hasn’t decided whether or not to run for president
A new trailer for a three-part documentary shot in the months before the 6 January riot shows Donald Trump and his children discussing their views on the 2020 election and features previously unseen footage from the Capitol attack itself.
Released by Politico today, the two-minute trailer is just a glimpse of the hours of raw footage subpoenaed by the committee investigating the worst attack on Congress since the early 19th century.
Mr Trump has lately taken to Truth Social to lay into the committee’s vice chair, Liz Cheney, calling her a “despicable human being” and raging at the news that the “fake unselect committee” on which she sits may recommend that the Justice Department bring ciminal charges against him.
In an interview broadcast on Sunday, Ms Cheney declined to rule out running for president herself in the next election.
“I haven’t made a decision about that yet,” she said. “And I’m obviously very focused on my re-election. I’m very focused on the 6 January committee. I’m very focused on my obligations to do the job that I have now. And I’ll make a decision about ‘24 down the road.”
ICYMI: Cheney keeps powder dry on presidential run
Liz Cheney, the vice chair of the House January 6 select committee, said during her first sit-down interview since the public hearings kicked off last month that she hasn’t ruled out making a bid for president in 2024.
“I’m obviously very focused on my reelection,” added Ms Cheney, who’s facing an uphill reelection campaign after she was censured by her home state’s GOP for accepting a role on the congressional committee investigating the violent insurrection on the US Capitol and for continuing to be a thorn in Donald Trump’s side.
“I’m very focused on the January 6 committee. I’m very focused on my obligations to do the job that I have now.”

Kinzinger pokes McCarthy on condemnation of Capitol rioters
Adam Kinzinger, who remains the 6 January committee’s most combative tweeter, has re-shared a message from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy dated 8 January 2021 in which Mr McCarthy calls for the rioters to be brought to justice.
Since then, Mr McCarthy has sought to delegitimise the committee on which Mr Kinzinger sits, minimised Donald Trump’s role in the attack, and repeatedly attempted to shift attention away from the riot itself and towards alleged security failures at the Capitol that preceded it.

New trailer for Trump docuseries released
Politico has dropped a new extended trailer for Unprecedented, the 3-part docuseries by filmmaker Alex Holder, who was embedded with the Trump family from just before the 2020 election until after the events of 6 January.
The clip expands on what’s already been shown of Mr Holder’s interactions with the Trumps, intercutting clips of them and other interviewees with strikingly clear footage from the Capitol riot.
At one point, a man in the 6 January crowd is seen drawing his finger across his throat. This is Danny Rodriguez, who notoriously broke down crying when interviewed by law enforcement officers about his behaviour at the Capitol.
Andrew Feinberg recently spoke to Mr Holder about his film, raw footage from which has been subpoenaed by the 6 January committee.

Upcoming hearing: Who are the Oath Keepers?
The next 6 January committee hearing is set to focus on how the mob that stormed the Capitol was assembled, with particular time given to the role played by organised extremist groups.
Among those groups: the Oath Keepers, an anti-government militia of whom several members have been indicted on seditious conspiracy charges over their alleged role in the Capitol riot. They even stand accused of bringing weapons to the Washington,…
