The gold armor Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince sports in the upcoming DC film Wonder Woman 1984 shines bright on one of the covers of the October 2020 edition of Rolling Stone magazine in Columbia.
Rolling Stone Columbia’s October issue features an exclusive interview with Gadot ahead of the release of Wonder Woman 1984 this December, with the magazine’s official Twitter page sharing both available covers. While the first cover features the actor as herself, the second sees Gadot in Wonder Woman’s gold armor, standing tall with the Lasso of Truth in her hand as neon lights reflect off the suit. The eagle-inspired armor worn by Diana in Wonder Woman 1984 is evidently based on iconic gold armor the DC hero has worn in the comics, which first appeared in Mark Waid and Alex Ross’ acclaimed 1996 Elseworlds limited series Kingdom Come. 1984 takes place several decades after the events of 2017’s Wonder Woman. The film rejoins Diana Prince in the 1980s as she comes face-to-face with villains Maxwell Lord and Cheetah, as well as reunites with love Steve Trevor, who was thought dead following his sacrifice at the end of the 2018 film. The film has had its release date changed multiple times, with the most recent delays coming as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Currently, the film is scheduled to open on Christmas Day.
Directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film arrives in theaters Dec. 25.
