Comcast just opened nominations for its 2022 Community Champion of the Year Award inside of the Nascar community. For the first time, Comcast will allow people to nominate anyone in the Nascar community who has an annual credential or a full season license.
Each year, as part of this award, $60,000 is donated to the winner’s affiliated charity, while $30,000 goes to each of the two other finalists’ nonprofits.
“At Comcast, we believe in inspiring communities for generations to come,” Matt Lederer, Comcast’s vice president of brand partnerships and amplification, said. “The Comcast Community Champion of the Year Award embodies those principles and showcases how Comcast supports lasting, positive change within the Nascar community. As a premier partner of Nascar, we feel it’s important to honor the individuals within the Nascar family giving back to their local communities in spectacular ways.
Since 2015, Comcast has donated over $950,000 across more than 20 different charities.

Comcast will accept nominees for the Community Champion Award through Aug. 1. By the end of the year, a new community champion will be named.
“We are blessed with so many community champions in our industry,” Mike Tatoian, president of Dover Motor Speedway and the 2019 community champion, said. “They are driven by their heart, passion, love and willingness to give their time and talent to make their community or organization the best it can be.
“None of them do it for awards or recognition. That, to me, is what defines a community champion. That’s incredibly inspiring to me which makes me realize why working in our industry is a blessing.”
Three finalists will be named later this year and then the winner chosen by a committee of Nascar and Comcast executives.
