New Delhi: As the Maharashtra assembly is all set to undergo floor test tomorrow amid the political crisis, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said that he is ready for the floor test, sources told ABP News. In a private conversation between the cabinet ministers and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday, the party chief said that he was ready to prove the majority during the floor test. The cabinet ministers have also assured that they will fully support CM Thackeray in a bid to strengthen his majortity.
Maharashtra governor, Bhagat Singh Koshyari has called for a special session at 11 am on June 30 for the Uddhav Thacekray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi to prove its majority on the floor of assembly, sources confirmed with ABP News.
The development comes a day after speculations arose that Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari may call for a floor test in the next two days after after the Eknath Shinde faction got a relief from the Supreme Court which had asked the deputy speaker of Maharashtra to hold the disqualification notices against the 16 rebel MLAs.
As the crisis in the state deepens and both the factions are ready for a long legal battle, ABP News sources have said that the governor will call for a floor test which can raise trouble for the Uddhav Thackeray government.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met governor Koshyari on Tuesday and demanded a floor test for CM Uddhav Thackeray to prove his numbers in the assembly. He claimed that 39 legislators of the Shiv Sena did not want to be a part of the government run by Shiv Sena alliance Nationalist Congress Party and Congress.
“We’ve given a letter to the Maharashtra Governor and told him that the 39 Shiv Sena MLAs are saying that they don’t want to be with the NCP, Cong government. It shows the MVA government has lost the majority. We’ve requested the governor to direct the CM to immediately prove his majority through Floor test,” Fadnavis said, reported news agency ANI.
