A 9-year-old boy was then airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center in critical condition, according to authorities. A third victim, a 28-year-old man, is in the hospital in stable condition. Stockton Police told KCRA 3 there was another child inside the truck, but they were not hurt.”Enough is enough. Too many young people are getting hurt by gun violence,” Stockton Police public information officer Joe Silva said.Silva said Saturday’s shooting is just down the street from a home invasion shooting from Tuesday night, where a man was shot and killed and a 9-year-old girl was pistol whipped. Due to these alarming incidents, Silva said police are making that area of Stockton a priority. “This area is definitely going to be seeing additional attention from the Stockton Police Department,” Silva said. “There will be more patrols. There will be more task force officers in this area, just so that we can prevent any other type of shootings from occurring.”KCRA 3 spoke to a concerned mother, who wanted to remain anonymous, who lives in the neighborhood where the shooting happened. She was hosting a birthday party for 10-year-old son Saturday, and she said it was terrifying to know a child was hurt in an act of violence that happened so close to home.”That’s very emotional,” she said. “It hits hard for me because I have a ten year old and I wouldn’t want that to happen to my child.”Authorities have not released any suspect information at this time in regards to Saturday’s shooting. The Stockton Police Department is encouraging anyone with information to call its non-emergency number at 209-937-8377 or the Investigations Division at 209-937-8323.
