The 2022 U.S. Open has turned into an all-time classic as Will Zalatoris, Matthew Fitzpatrick and 2022 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler are battling atop the leaderboard across the back nine of The Country Club. All three men have played a prominent role at major championships this season with Zalatoris and Fitzpatrick not only seeking their first major championship triumphs but their first wins on the PGA Tour.
Defending champion Jon Rahm, who if not for an 18th-hole blunder would have taken the solo lead into the final day, is still in the hunt with an uphill battle in front of him. Meanwhile, 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama posted the low round of the week with a bogey-free 65 on Sunday to enter the clubhouse as a measuring stick for the rest of the field at 3 under for the tournament.
