- A South Florida man is facing criminal charges after allegedly biting the head off a woman’s pet python on Monday morning during a dispute, according to multiple news reports. The suspect is charged with resisting officers with violence, false imprisonment and animal cruelty, according to court records. (Miami Patch)
- A woman in Sunrise is accused of leaving a salon without paying her bill. The owner of the salon captured the woman on surveillance camera footage and released it to authorities. “If you don’t have money, or you don’t like my price, don’t come here,” said owner Sunky Ferreira of Sunky’s Salon. The owner claimed the suspect went outside to get money and never returned. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. (WSVN)
- A South Florida teacher has spoken out about a move by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to block an Advanced Placement high school course on African American Studies which has made national headlines. The controversy has sparked a furious debate nationwide. “African American history is a part of American history,” said the teacher from Miami Northwestern Senior High School. (WPLG Local 10)
- Few people have applied to Miami-Dade County’s Special Assessment program despite the program being active for two months. The county is reminding people to apply for the program while the funds are available. The program offers condo owners a low interest loan of up to $50,000 for special assessment costs. (NBC Miami)
- The Doral Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 15th anniversary recently. The guest list included City of Doral Mayor Christi Fraga, Vice Mayor Rafael Pineyro, Councilwoman Maureen Porras, and Doral City Manager Barbie Hernandez.
