Recently, Lovecraft Country star Jonathan Majors was reportedly cast as the interesting and deadly Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming Ant-Man 3. Having first appeared in 1963’s Fantastic Four #19 as Rama-Tut, the time-travelling Kang is one of the most dangerous villains Marvel’s heroes have ever faced. In this video, we’re going to break down just what you need to know about Kang and what his appearance in Ant-Man 3 means for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four.
Originally from the 31st century, Kang discovered time travel technology and accidentally sent himself into the future, where humanity had regressed. Kang conquered the people and created an empire. However, due to issues with Earth in his timeline, Kang went backwards in an attempt to take over Earth. Things only get more complicated from there.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it’s not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there’s a good indication the characters Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there’s not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Still, Ant-Man is set to return for his third solo film, though there are few details on just what that movie will involve at this time. There’s also some indication his daughter, Cassie Lang, is being set up to join the MCU’s version of the Young Avengers at some point in the future.
