The Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs will hold its annual Stand Down on Sept. 23 at five locations across the state.
The event provides attendees access to a variety of in-person services including housing opportunities, legal assistance, employment programs, medical screenings, education programs, personal need items, vaccinations and meals provided by the VA, veterans organizations and state and federal agencies and local providers.
The Stand Down will be open to all veterans and service members, including active duty, National Guard and reserve personnel. This year the Stand Down will feature an additional location in Bristol at the Sports Armory.
“The DVA team continues its commitment to excellence in its mission of serving those who served,” Commissioner Thomas J. Saadi, who also serves as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, said in a press release.
At 10:30 a.m. a brief ceremony will be held at the Rocky Hill location, according to the release.
“I hope the expanded regional approach to Stand Down launched two years ago will help more veterans and service members connect with the programs and benefits they earned,” Saadi said.
