BATON ROUGE — Purple won Game One of the three-game Purple-Gold World Series Friday night at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
The game began with a pitching duel between Gold Team starter Blake Money and Purple Team Starter Will Hellmers. Money worked three innings, allowed no runs on one hit and tallied two strikeouts. Hellmers went three innings as well, tallied only one hit and no runs, with three strikeouts.
All the runs scored came after the fourth inning, with Paxton Kling and Mic Paul scoring home runs for the Purple Team. Gold followed suit with a home run by Ben Nippolt.
The Tigers will face off in Game Two at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19. Fans are reminded that they must park in the free Hayfield Lot on Gourrier Dr. due to reserved football parking lots.
