San Joaquin County Supervisor Tom Patti stepped down in his bid for to represent San Joaquin County in Congress after the latest round of election results were released by the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters.
Those results show Harder with 90,143 votes or 55.50%, and Patti with 72,274 votes or 44.50%.
The update includes an additional 37,048 votes for a total 174,344 counted, or 45.2% of the county’s more than 385,000 registered voters.
Patti has trailed since the first tally was released election night.
On Tuesday, Nov. 22 Patti offered a concession statement.
“While I would have enjoyed going to Congress, the voters showed they want me to complete my term as supervisor and I look forward to the next 2 years working on our local issues as I have successfully done these past 6 years. Unfortunately, the voters were exposed to a Bay area funded campaign filled with 100% lies and misinformation instead of addressing the real issues and selection local leadership we deserve,” he said.
Harder declared victory in the race on Nov. 15.
“I’m incredibly honored our community has put their faith in me once again,” he said in a statement. “There’s a huge amount of work that needs to get done, and I truly believe if we focus on common sense solutions we can get prices down, protect our water, and keep our community safe. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I won’t let you down.”
Longtime Democratic Congressman Jerry McNerney opted to not run for reelection in the newly created 9th District.
