PRIDE DC, Many people were injured on Saturday during the parade of the capital pride while fleeing what they thought were gunshots, authorities said. Commander Guillermo Rivera, of the Metropolitan Police, said that the police were responding to the call of a man with a weapon. When they approached the scene, they found people who said that the shots had been fired. The police arrested a suspect and found a gun nearby.
He was arrested. Rivera said there was no evidence that the shots were fired. Seven people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, the commander said. Other people were treated at the scene, at the Dupont Circle in Washington.
The police are reviewing the recordings to try to determine what the noises were. There were three or four very loud noises of gun shots and only “You heard people shouting and they started to book it . “They’re tearing down barricades … It was just chaos for a few moments.”

The Capital Pride Alliance, which organized the event, said on its website that it expected more than 200 organizations to participate in the 1.5-mile parade. The parade featured floats and vehicles, organizers said. After the chaos, Capital Pride tweeted that the parade was over, but that a neighborhood party would continue as scheduled.
