The group “raided the Walgreens store” and “ran around touching items on the shelves,” according to police. The video captured three men running down a hallway, tearing down makeup from store shelves. Another angle of the camera captured a larger group pulling other items off the shelves.
“Some members of the group threw merchandise at the store employees, which resulted in injuries,” police said.
The video posted by the police showed a child taking items off the shelves near the check-out counter and throwing the items at the employees.
You can see some people in the group filming the incident on their cell phones. The group is also seen leaving the store with items in their hands, including soft drinks and snacks.
At least one person in the group covered his face when he entered and left the store.
A box agent received a blow to the head with a glass bottle when he tried to intervene
“About 60 young people entered the store and started taking things off the shelves, destroying property inside the store,” Philadelphia Police Capt. Sekou Kinebrew told the television station. “The cashier tried to intervene and something heavy, I think it was a bottle.” He was thrown at him, hitting him on the head.
Kinebrew added that the value of the stolen merchandise and the damage to the store totaled between $ 6,000 and $ 7,000.
The injured employee has been treated and released with cuts and bruises on his head, the station reported.
