A massive manhunt is underway after two deputies were shot during a chase with a stolen car in Bibb County, Alabama Wednesday afternoon. The Centreville Press identified the two deputies as Chris Poole and Brad Johnson on Facebook Wednesday night. One deputy was rushed to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Authorities from numerous agencies helped block traffic along the route as the ambulance traveled north up Interstate 65. It’s unknown at this time where the other deputy is being treated, but Jackson said he believed the deputy is at a Birmingham hospital.The suspect, 26-year-old Austin Hall, is still at large. Multiple law enforcement agencies are assisting in the manhunt. Hall has a very lengthy criminal history dating back to 2012, including assault, burglary, attempting to elude, property theft and injuring a police officer, according to court records.The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Hall is approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 169 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. ALEA says Hall is considered to be “armed and extremely dangerous.” Hall was last seen in the Cahaba Wildlife Management Area along Highway 25 and Golfers Trail in Bibb County. Residents in the Brierfield area are asked to stay inside and to keep their doors locked while the search conitnues.WVTM 13 found a photo of Hall from a 2019 news release from the Alabama Department of Corrections when he escaped from a work release facility in Wilcox County.A police staging area is set up at the intersection of Bulldog Bend and Highway 25 in Bibb County. According to ALEA, law enforcement agencies ranging from local departments to the FBI are assisting in the manhunt for Hall.A vigil was held in Centreville around 8 p.m. Wednesday for the two deputies.
