Why she left the role
The real-world reason Wells did not return for "Back to the Future Part II" (1989) and "Part III" (1990) was that she turned down the roles to care for her mother, who was ill and died in October 1994, according to the Fox News interview. Fox join her in having reprised a role for that game version -- meaning Wells, not Shue, is the only Jennifer Parker actor to voice the character again after the original 1985 film.
