Local, county and federal authorities combined efforts to halt the smuggling attempt of 46 migrants, according to the U.S. Border Patrol.
During the evening of June 6, agents responded to a possible human smuggling attempt near the intersection of Texas 359 and Old Milwaukee Road. Agents and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations set up surveillance when a tractor-trailer approached the area and parked.
Several vehicles started arriving and transferring people into the trailer. Agents along with Webb County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office and the Webb County Attorney’s Office discovered 46 migrants inside the trailer.
Authorities said the migrants were from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. To report suspicious activity, call the Laredo Sector Border Patrol toll free at 1-800-343-1994.
