HERNDON, VA — An unassuming house on a quiet street in Oak Hill may hold a treasure trove of White House memorabilia for history buffs, collectors and bargain hunters this weekend.
Caring Traditions of Northern Virginia is hosting a three-day estate sale on Friday-Sunday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at the home of former White House head groundskeeper Irvin M. Williams. The home is located at 2700 Culkins Road, Herndon, VA 20171.
Williams started as the superintendent of grounds/head gardener during the Kennedy administration and continued in that role for the next 46 years. He retired in 2008, during the first Bush presidency, according to the sale’s website.
This weekend’s estate sale offers many objects familiar to those who frequent flea markets and garage sales, such as furniture, cookie jars, gardening tools, coffee grinders, pots and pans, and more. Visitors will also find a collection of presidential and White House memorabilia, including photos, Christmas cards, match books, mugs, signed documents, and political buttons, as well as items from Air Force 1 and Camp David.
A full list and photos of the items on sale this weekend at Williams’ home is available online.
